The three toys waited for a long time, but Daisy never came back for them. One day, Daisy took Lotso and her two other toys, Big Baby and Chuckles, out for a little drive with her parents and stopped at a rest stop for a little bit of playtime.Īfter lunch, Daisy fell asleep and her parents took her back into the car, accidentally leaving Lotso, Big Baby, and Chuckles behind. Lotso seemed to have enjoyed every moment of the time spent at Daisy's house. Lotso first started out as a Christmas present for Daisy and instantly became her favorite toy.

Additionally, by destroying Big Baby's old pendant, Lotso not only wanted to forget his own relation with Daisy and pretend it never even existed, but he also wanted to destroy all of Big Baby's ties to Daisy and essentially all toys' ties to their owners.Īt the landfill, despite seemingly showing thankful feelings toward Woody for saving him from the shredders, Lotso still held on to his beliefs that children would discard their toys out of boredom and disinterest without realizing the physical and emotional pain they are causing to the toy, as evidenced when he refused to push the emergency stop button that, had he pressed it, would have supposedly led to his redemption by saving Woody and his friends from their fiery death in the incinerator. While in power as a head toy at Sunnyside, he also seemed to develop nihilistic tendencies, as evidenced by his statement that all toys were ultimately going to be tossed out like garbage, and there is no salvation for them. However, he was considered to be a kind-hearted friend to both Chuckles and Big Baby before they were accidentally abandoned and subsequently replaced.ĭue to his painful past, Lotso possessed a negative philosophy about being a toy, believing toys to be nothing special and originally made for future disposal. This nature was mostly brought about from his perceived betrayal from Daisy. Lotso's true colors revealed him to be a dark, sadistic, conniving, selfish, rage-driven tyrant and prison warden, ruling Sunnyside with an iron fist and imprisoning new toys in the Caterpillar Room to test their ability to endure the abuse of the reckless and destructive children there. However, this facade merely concealed his true nature later in the film. He even went so far as to the toys that different kids at the daycare center would continue to play with them and that they would never feel unloved or rejected. This was further emphasized by his strawberry aroma and his hugging of Buzz Lightyear when the toys first arrived at Sunnyside Daycare. If you don't have children to take to go see this film then take friends who saw the first two films.Lotso came across the toys' well being and at first seemed caring, welcoming, friendly, and possessed all of the good qualities of the stereotypical soft teddy bear. The ending was so tough to watch without sniffling because if you watched Toy Story at around Andy's age during the time and you watch Toy Story 3 around Andy's age now (he was 17 and I am 22 and went through roughly the same hassle as he did when he was moving out for college), you would feel a wallop of emotion. I related to Andy in this film just as I did in Toy Story 3. I have no idea how Disney and Pixar knock out great movies like this (they make it look easy).

The visuals were stunning! The script was enjoyable! This movie reached all corners of film greatness (and its a kid's movie). But Toy Story 3 set the bar 'to infinity and beyond!' The VA cast was pheNOMenal. Toy Story 2, in my opinion, was not as good as its first installment but it was a film that almost never hit theaters so I'll give them the benefit of doubt. Toy Story was a smash hit when it first hit the screens. Lots of drama, lots suspense, and lots of toys! Disney and Pixar outdid themselves with this one. This film was a carelessly thoughtful stoke of genius! It keeps both children and adults entertained. I asked myself why did my mother give away my toys without my permission? At THAT moment is when I thought about the last 30 minutes of Toy Story 3 I started to cry.

My conner only housed my stack of video games. I went home walked into my room a realized that my Optimus Prime is not at the foot of my door, my Sylvester the Cat stuffed toy was not on my bed, and my McDonald's Sonic the Hedgehog toy was not on my shelf. The other Disney film that came close was Pixar's WALL E. The only Disney movie I cried in was Lion King.
